Social Work p.r.n. Testimonials

Affiliate Spotlights

First, I approached Social Work p.r.n. with  curiosity.    It is seldom that you find agencies just for us.  During my first seminar, I realized that I was at home!  The warm feeling that you are accepted and going to be cared for is a good one.  When my first assignment came, the process and transition was smooth thanks to our coordinator Robyn who made endless efforts to sort out the bureaucracy of a big corporation and get the job available.  She was always there when I had a question or concern.  It is really good to have someone backing you up and acting as the mediator between you and the setting.  Her patience and professionalism were key in defining this experience as very special to me.  She believed in me as a professional and gave me the opportunity to work and lean in a very prestigious health care company.  Thank you Social Work p.r.n. for this opportunity."

~  Roxana F.,  Florida Office Affiliate since 2009

"I enjoy working for Social Work p.r.n. because of the unique opportunities it provides for me.  I enjoy a flexible schedule that suits my family, while exploring new areas of social work that I may not have otherwise had the chance to experience.  I have primarily worked in geriatric social work in the past.  With Social Work p.r.n. I have been able to work with adjudicated teens, a population that I have found tremendously fulfilling in my role as a social worker.  The organization calls on me when needed via Social Work p.r.n. and we have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship.  I have helped them during audits and to secure funding by keeping them current in their required services and documentation.  They have provided me with a valuable experience in what was previously unfamiliar territory.  With the state of our present economy, and budget conscious organizations needing employees, but sometimes unable to hire a permanent, full-time employee, Social Work p.r.n. just makes sense!"

~ Jennifer M., Florida Office Affiliate since April 2008

Licensure Exam Fee Change (Per NASW FL Website)

Beginning January 1, 2010, the cost for taking the LCSW exam will raise significantly. The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) voted at their last meeting to increase the fees for the Advanced Clinical Exam, the one used in Florida, from $175 to a new rate of $260. This cost will apply for everyone registering to take the exam on or after January 1st. The vote was 36-16, with Florida’s delegation opposing the increase. Reasons cited for the rate change include increased administrative costs, including the costs necessary to ensure the continued validity of the exam, and implementing new security measures. The last rate change was in 2001, and there is expected to be a minimum of five years before any additional increases are considered.

The Social Work Registry provides a repository for social workers' credential information while serving as a verification source for social work licensing boards.  This is a great resource for social workers who want to become licensed in various jurisdictions.  The Registry lets you establish a permanent file containing primary source records important to your social work career.  At your request, this information can be transmitted to any regulatory board to which you may apply for licensure.  For more information go to www.aswb.org/registry

Office of Ethics and Professional Review(OEPR)
Ethics Consultation

As a service to members, the OEPR provides ethics consultations for current NASW members. Ethic consultations are a resource for members who are experiencing an ethical dilemma. We do not provide advice or tell members what to do. However, we do guide them through the Code and point them to the areas of the Code that address their concerns. We provide dialogue and considerations that allow members to make ethical decisions. We may also refer members to the appropriate areas if their questions do not appear to be related to ethics but are more related to legal issues or standards of practice.

Social Workers may have their educational debt forgiven . . .

The U.S. Department of Education has created a new call center for borrowers to obtain information about the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007 (H.R. 2669). The number for the Federal Student Aid Information Center is (800) 433-3243. The law forgives outstanding education debt for those persons that meet the eligibility requirements. Those that would benefit are employees that have made 120 monthly payments on their loans while serving full-time in social work in public child or family service agencies, government, nonprofit, military, education, and others areas. The loan forgiveness provisions became effective on October 1, 2007. It is important to note that payments made after October 1, 2007 on an existing loan can count towards the 120 payments if the loan meets certain criteria.
